Wenli is the founder of LCSH, who leads both teams in the UK and China, while also being the partner of Shanghai DongDao Law Firm. Wenli is a strong legal and business professional with a Degree of Master of Law from the University of Edinburgh focusing on “International Economic Law”. As a qualified lawyer in China & an accomplished entrepreneur, with strong professional knowledge, multi-cultural & multi-lingual background, she has rich experience and highly specialised knowledge in dealing with international businesses. With skills and diverse abilities in Chinese law consultation, legal risk management, enterprises compliance & risk control, mediation, litigation & arbitration (including multiple big class actions), negotiation, and delivering innovative solutions for clients, Wenli excels at helping clients with their business development, better understanding cultural differences, addressing language barriers and break the ice.

Wenli started practising law in 2009 and has gained much professional experience managing foreign-related legal affairs and projects, including intellectual property, joint ventures, foreign direct investment, domestic and cross-border mergers & acquisitions, corporate listing legal services and venture capital, as well as dealing with comprehensive corporate matters, commercial affairs and legal risk control and management as clients’ in-house perennial legal consultant. When working as a senior associate at top law firms in China, the clients she was responsible for included large foreign-funded enterprises (such as Adidas China and Royal Vopak), China domestic listed companies and dynamic SMEs. Her legal work has covered various industries of renewable energy, AI technology, agriculture sci-tech, international trade, e-commerce, education tourism, food and beverage, real estate, telecommunication, IT, finance, creative and media, etc.

Since she moved to the UK and established LCSH with endorsement from the University of Edinburgh in 2016, she has led her international team providing excellent and cost-effective legal and risk control services and business support for clients from the UK and other parts of the world with their businesses with/in China. An example of which is when she and her team assisted a China central government-owned enterprise called Sinomec in finding, negotiating and trying to invest in waste-energy power stations in the UK, and assisting a China listed company called Tellhow with its renewable energy power station project in the UK; she has been providing Chinese law legal advice for UK companies via TUS ORE Catapult.

With her professional competence, a strong sense of responsibility, good reputation and fluent Chinese-English communication skills, Wenli has also built up a wide network of valuable contacts and extensive industry relations. For an instance, she successfully hosted a grand UK-China Investment summit in Shanghai in September 2015 with endorsement and sponsorship from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, which attracted almost 100 VIP guests from large investment funds, banks and other financial institutions, multi-national companies, big business organization, law firms, etc. She also invited representatives from Scottish Development International and UK Trade & Investment (now called “DIT“) to deliver impressive speeches during the summit.

She is also keen on social activities for the public good. She represented financially disadvantaged parties in various litigations voluntarily, such as labour dispute litigation and civil suits collateral to criminal proceedings in China.
